Klagenfurt

Experience the spirit of Klagenfurt. Have a look into picturesque inner courtyards of the 16th century, historical palais and enjoy the southern flair when having a cup of coffee in one of the cafés on the Old Square. You’ll learn about the history oft he city and hear legends like the one of our dragon, the symbol of Klagenfurt.

Villach: Gateway to the South.

Discover the hub of Carinthia and feel the southern lifestyle of this town. Stroll with us through narrow alleys with their small boutiques and cafés to the main square. When walking through the old town you will hear interesting stories about celebrities like the famous philosopher and author Paul Watzlawick who lived in Villach.

Yearning for Lake Wörthersee

The water of the lake is turquoise and happy jolly people meet at the bars and hot spots at the lakeside. Lake Wörthersee is the main attraction for all Carinthian visitors. Highlights at the lake are the Casino in Velden where Telly Savallas stayed when he filmed in Carinthia, the gorgeous promenade in Pörtschach which inspired Johannes Brahms, the centuries-old churches of the peninsula of Maria Wörth or the fantastic view from the wooden observation tower at the Pyramidenkogel hilltop.

Pörtschach – How tourism started ......

You hear about the beginning of summer tourism in Carinthia and at the lake when this region was conneced to the railway network of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy and the Viennese upper class came for holidays. We’ll have a look to the summer residences at the lakeside planned by architects at the end of the 19th century..

Burg Hochosterwitz – a unique fortress

Immerse into medieval times. Fortress Hochosterwitz with its 14 gates waits to be conquered. Either you walk along the pathway up to the fortress for half an hour and enjoy the fantastic view or you take a lift to discover the secrets and treasures from times gone by.

Romanic cathedral Gurk

Feel the magic of this special location. More than 800 years ago this unique roman cathedral with crypt was constructed for the Bishop of Carinthia. Visit the tomb of Saint Hemma and after a guided tour we enjoy a glass of Gurktaler liqueur.

Nockalm – a special nature experience

The 35 km long Nockalm mountain road brings you up to a hight of 2042 m and you’ll discover the uniqueness of this mountain range. You learn about the healing power of our medical plants which were used and valued by farmers for hundreds of years. Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, used our Speick plant to bewitch Marcus Antonius. Today you can enjoy our Speick-wellness products sold in the shops along the road. Or you can try our typical snack – Brettljause: bacon, sausage, cheese and pickles - served on a wooden plate and if you want accompanied by a Zirbenschnaps.

Grossglockner – Austria’s highest mountain

The mountain is situated in Carinthia at the border to the provinces of Salzburg and Tyrol. The mountain road offers a phantastic view into the heart of the High Tauern National Park. Lean back and discover the fascinating mountain scenery with flowering edelweiss and gentian, the sweet smell of the mountain forest and the powerful rocks with perpetual ice. From the observation deck 2500 m above sea level, you will enjoy the fantastic view of the 3798m high Grossglockner, like Sissy and our former emperor Franz-Joseph did.

Majestic power of water

Located at 1933 m above sea level we visit the highest retaining wall in Austria. The basin buffers up to 200 mio. cubic metres of water to guarantee a permanent electricity supply. A unique alpine road twists through „the valley of falling waters“ and gives a phantastic view of the thundering waterfalls.

Graz and the South Styrian wine route

The capital city of Styria is a lively student town with appealing old houses. The Schlossberg, a hilltop in the city, offers a phantastic view of the surrounding area. Afterwards, we travel along pumpkin fields and apple trees to the winegrowing area in the south of Styria to taste the Schilcher, a wine only produced here.

Ljubljana – the beloved

The Slovenian capital was architecturally influenced by the baroque and art-deco styles with nice houses in the old town. Experience the hussle and buzzle at the market and the special atmosphere in the cafés along the river Ljubljanica.

Bled – a sweet seduction

The village is a location for connoisseurs. Discover the beauty of the idyllic lake and the spa founded 200 years ago. Taste Bled’s famous cream cake, which has been sold more than 13 million times.

Tarvis - a must for bargainers

A bordertown to Austria, the village became famous after the war for its traders at the leather and clothing market. Traditionally people at the market like to bargain for each and every piece to get handbags or jeans at a good price. In Tarvis four languages are spoken – Italien, German, Slovene and Friulan.

San Daniele – famous for gammon

The village of San Daniele is situated between the mountain range of Carnia in the north and the Adriatic Sea in the south. San Daniele offers the ideal climatic requirements to produce excellent gammon which is well known all over Europe.

A special experience

Experience Klagenfurt and Lake Wörthersee in an oldtimer bus and ship built in 1924. First we take the cabriobus to visit the monastry church of Viktring, built by monks in the 12th century. Afterwards we continue and take a boat trip on the lake to see where Gustav Mahler was inspired and composed many of his symphonies. You will never forget the panoramic view of the mountains, the beautiful residences at the lakeside and the islands.

Roundtrip with a nostalgic cabrio bus

With an oldtimer cabriobus, built in 1951, we take a ride around Klagenfurt to have a look at the outsides of several castles and residences. Afterwards we visit a very special museum where you get information about public transport in Klagenfurt and you will take a short trip on an old tramway.

Rates and Terms of Business


Our rates depend on the specific tour of our guests. Therefore, we kindly ask you to contact us.

Method of Payment

Payment is made in cash directly to the tourist guide. A handling charge of €15,00 will be made in the case of payment by cheque or transfer from outside the EU.

Waiting Time

If the group does not turn up at the arranged time, the tourist guide will wait for one hour. However, any waiting time will be included in the duration of the tour. In case of unforeseeable delay we ask you to contact us (mobile: Brigitte 0043 664 1581 336 or Margarethe 0043 664 917 8425).

Cancellation

This must be in writing at least 10 days before the tour so that no costs are incurred; if a cancellation is made within 2 days of the tour, 60% of the agreed amount will be due. In case of cancellation 1 day before the tour, or on the actual day, the full amount will be due. If the group fails to turn up at the agreed meeting place, the tour will be deemed completed and the full amount will be due.
